CBD doesn’t have to be expensive.
Today you’re getting a list of the:
- cheapest CBD oils,
- cheapest CBD gummies, and,
- cheapest CBD capsules.
You can get affordable, high-quality CBD products that will cost you around $1 per day. That’s cheaper than a cup of coffee.
But here’s the problem with 80% of cheap CBD oils, gummies, and capsules:
They’re mostly low quality.
What do I mean with low quality?
- They don’t contain the amount of CBD (and other cannabinoids) as specified on the label;
- They contain only CBD and no other cannabinoids and terpenes. This matters because secondary cannabinoids like and terpenes make CBD products up to eight times more effective;
- They’re not backed by 3rd-party lab test reports that show the exact cannabinoid-content and proof that the product is contaminant-free.
This list only contains cheap CBD products backed by third-party lab test reports that show:
- the exact cannabinoid content of the product, and,
- proof that the product is free from contaminants.
Table of Contents
The Cheapest CBD Oils That Are Still of Great Quality
CBD oil or CBD tinctures are the oily extractions of hemp compounds. CBD oil is a combination of hemp extract, diluted with a carrier oil like olive oil or MCT oil.
When looking at the amount of CBD you get per $1, CBD oils are generally more affordable than softgels. But they’re slightly more expensive than gummies. They’re also more expensive than powders.
But here’s the deal:
When we compare the effectiveness of full-spectrum oils and tinctures vs the effectiveness of other types of CBD products, we find that:
CBD oils (or tinctures) give you the best value for your money of all CBD products.
Various studies and our own experiences show that the more minor cannabinoids and terpenes are inside a CBD product, the more effective it is. Cannabinoids and terpenes have powerful synergistic effects, enhancing each others benefits. So the more minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBC, and the more terpenes like myrcene and linalool, the more effective your CBD product will be.
And out of all CBD products, oils have the most minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
Minor cannabinoids hold more weight in the effectiveness-rating of a CBD product than terpenes.
One study with epilepsy patients estimated that full-spectrum CBD can as effective as purified CBD, with a dose that’s 4-times smaller (1). In our experience reviewing CBD products, full-spectrum CBD products with many minor cannabinoids and terpenes can be up to eight-times more effective than CBD isolate.
So comparisons of CBD prices based only on how much one milligram of CBD costs, or how much milligrams of CBD you get for one dollar, don’t make any sense if you don’t take into account facts like full-spectrum CBD being much more effective than purified CBD.
Example:
- CBD oil A costs $100 for 3000mg purified CBD.
- CBD oil B costs $200 for 3000mg full-spectrum CBD.
With CBD oil A, you would get 30mg of CBD per $1.
With CBD oil B, you would get 15mg of CBD per $1.
You might assume that CBD oil A is much cheaper. But since 1mg of full-spectrum CBD from CBD oil B is up to 8-times more effective than 1mg of purified CBD from CBD oil A, this assumption wouldn’t be true.
Even if we assume that CBD oil B is only 4-times more effective, it would provide you twice as much value for your money compared to CBD oil A. Even though it’s twice as expensive.
Always keep this mind when comparing CBD prices:
Full-spectrum CBD products are significantly more effective than purified CBD products one a milligram-by-milligram basis.
And the more different minor cannabinoids and terpenes present, and the higher the concentrations of these, the more effective a CBD product usually is.

- #6 SOL CBD (Most Affordable Liposomal CBD Oil)
1. R+R Medicinals CBD Oil (Best Cheap Full-Spectrum CBD Oil)
R+R Medicinals is without a doubt one of our #1 value for money CBD brands.
Whether you’re looking for an affordable CBD oil or affordable CBD gummies…
Everything R+R Medicinals sells scores super-high on ‘value for money’.
If you buy their biggest bottle of oil, which contains 2500mg and costs $96.99…
A single dollar ($1) gets you 28.7 mg of full-spectrum hemp extract.
Out of this 28.7mg, 25.7mg is CBD and 3mg consists of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
While Lazarus Naturals CBD oil is even more affordable…
It doesn’t contain as many minor cannabinoids as this R+R Medicinals oil.
Why does this matter?
Well, of course, any CBD oil that has minor cannabinoids and terpenes, is full-spectrum.
But the ‘full-spectrumness’ of an oil can have different degrees.
The more minor cannabinoids and terpenes, the more full-spectrum a CBD oil is. With the minor cannabinoids holding more weigh than terpenes. In our experience, cannabinoids have more synergy among themselves compared to cannabinoids with terpenes.
When it comes to affordable CBD oils, you won’t be able to find a more affordable, high-quality full-spectrum CBD oil than this R+R Medicinals product.
See, full-spectrum CBD products are often relatively expensive.
For a full-spectrum CBD product, to be truly ‘full-spectrum’, it needs to be produced:
- From a hemp plant that has a wide variety of cannabinoids and terpenes,
- From a hemp plant that has high concentrations of all these different cannabinoids and terpenes, and,
- Mostly from the flower parts of the hemp plant.
If the source material you use to produce your oil is mostly hemp flower instead of every part of the plant (including stems, stalks, and leaves), you’re going to need significantly more plant material. This of course, leads to higher costs and thus higher prices.
But there’s another reason why full-spectrum CBD products are more expensive.
To keep all volatile hemp compounds inside a full-spectrum CBD product, you can’t filter it much. Other types of CBD products can undergo extensive filtering and purification.
Hemp is a ‘bio-accumulator’ plant. It absorbs everything from the soil, including harmful contaminants like:
- heavy metal particles, and,
- chemical waste.
Since you can’t filter and purify full-spectrum CBD products as extensively as other types of products, you need to be sure that the soil the source plants are cultivated in, is clean. Keeping soil clean costs money, money that will lead to higher prices of the end-product.
This, in turn, means that the soil in which the source plants of full-spectrum CBD products are cultivated, need to be as clean as it gets.
Despite all price-increasing factors for full spectrum CBD, R+R Medicinals CBD oil is extremely affordable. Their products contain a wide variety of cannabinoids and terpenes in high concentrations.
All their products come with third-party lab-test reports that prove their products:
- are completely clean of contaminants, and,
- contain high concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes.

2. CBDfx (Most Affordable CBD Vape Oil)
Although not as affordable as R+R Medicinals…
CBDfx vape products can be qualified as ‘superb value for money’ as well.
Most of their products are full-spectrum products. Besides CBD they contain a variety of other hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes.
Most CBDfx are quite affordable compared to the competition.
But their best value for money product is their CBD vape oil.
It’s one of the few CBD vape oils with a high concentration of terpenes.
Terpenes are thought to enhance to effects of cannabinoids. But they also have unique beneficial effects of their own, including anti-inflammatory, calming, and pain-relieving properties.
They’re also the compounds that give cannabis strains their unique smell and taste.
This vape oil tastes great, but more importantly, natural. Because its flavorings are based on natural hemp ingredients (terpenes).
Of course, all their products are third-party lab-tested and free of contaminants.
And all their products are made from hemp organically cultivated in Kentucky farms.
And if you want to test the waters, you’ll be happy to know they provide a full 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
When we look at how much you get for a single dollar in terms of:
- CBD, and,
- minor cannabinoids and terpenes,
we see that CBD vape oils are more expensive than tinctures.
But if you prefer to vape, this is the best value-for-money CBD vape oil.
Vaping works quicker than oral ingestions. It usually provides immediate relief. The downside of vaping CBD is that the effects don’t last as long as ingesting it orally.
A single dollar ($1) gets you 8.3 mg of terpene-rich CBD vape oil.

3. JoyOrganics (Most Affordable Broad-Spectrum Oil)
Not everyone wants to consume THC.
For example:
- You might be subjected to regular drug tests, or
- You might be sensitive to THC.
In both cases, it’s best if you avoid THC. And if you want to avoid THC, you have to avoid true full-spectrum CBD products. They always have at least some THC.
But that doesn’t mean that you have to avoid all other minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
Even if you’re looking for a THC-free CBD product, you should get a CBD product that contains minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
And when it comes to affordable, THC-free CBD products…
That have a great cannabinoid- and terpene-profile, despite being THC-free…
Joy Organics makes it to the top of the list.
A single dollar ($1) gets you 17.88 mg of THC-free, broad-spectrum hemp-extract.
Out of this 17.88mg, 15.88mg consists of CBD, and 2mg consists of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
There are THC-free CBD oils that provide more CBD per dollar. But none of them provide as many minor cannabinoids and terpenes per $1 as Joy Organics.
Their CBD oil has a terpene-percentage of 0.52%. This is much higher than 90% of CBD oils. In fact, it’s the highest concentration of terpenes of all CBD products on this list.
Terpenes are an often-overlooked ingredient when it comes to CBD products.

4. Receptra Naturals Serious Rest (Most Affordable CBD Oil for Sleep)
Receptra Naturals is one of the best full-spectrum CBD product producers.
Their products have more cannabinoids and terpenes than any other product.
They achieve this by making use of cold-ethanol extraction. It’s the best extraction method for preserving volatile compounds like terpenes.
But the issue with this type of extraction is that it’s expensive.
This expensive extraction method doesn’t prevent this Serious Rest tincture from being the most affordable CBD tincture that’s specifically formulated for sleep.
A single dollar gets you 15mg of full-spectrum hemp extract.
From this 15mg, 11mg consists of CBD and 4mg of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
So while a single dollar doesn’t necessarily get you an impressive amount of CBD…
It does get you an impressive amount of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
Also the ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids + terpenes is much higher than any other affordable oil. While the other affordable oils on the list have a ratio between 10:1 and 7:1 (meaning there’s 10-7 times more CBD than minor cannabinoids and terpenes)…
This tincture has a ratio of 3:1. It’s one of the CBD products with the most balanced cannabinoid- and terpenes-profiles.
Other than hemp compounds, this tincture has other beneficial natural compounds that may improve your sleep:
- Chamomile, and;
- Valerian root.
If you’re looking for an affordable oil to improve your sleep, with 100% certainty, I can say:
This tincture will give you the best results based on price.
One drop of this tincture is more effective than a drop from your average cheap product.
This product is the prime example of why a price comparison based on dollar per milligram of CBD doesn’t make any sense.
Yes, if we look at how much one milligram of CBD costs, or how much milligram of CBD you get $1, this oil looks expensive.
But a tincture, like this one, one with such a high ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids + terpenes is up to eight times more effective than a purified CBD product.

5. Lazarus Naturals High Potency, Full-Spectrum CBD Oil Tincture (Most Affordable Full-Spectrum CBD Oil, Period)
In a list of high-quality, affordable CBD oils, Lazarus Naturals CBD oil can’t be missing.
This is the most affordable full-spectrum CBD oil on the list.
This oil is even more affordable than some purified CBD isolate oils.
Why is this so noteworthy?
Well, if a full-spectrum CBD oil is up to 8-times more effective than CBD isolate oil, and this oil is even cheaper than some isolate oils…
You start to understand how much value you get for every dollar you invest in this oil.
First, let’s compare the price to another great value full-spectrum oil, R+R Medicinals CBD Tincture:
- Lazarus Naturals gets you 50mg CBD per $1,
- R+R Medicinals gets you 25mg CBD per $1.
So this Lazarus Naturals oil gets you double the amount of CBD per $1 compared to R+R Medicinals.
When we look at minor cannabinoids, we see the following:
- Lazarus Naturals gets you 8mg minor cannabinoids per $1, the main ones being CBC, CBG, and THC.
- R+R Medicinals gets you 3.6mg minor cannabinoids per $1, the main ones being CBC, CBG, and THC.
So also in terms of how many minor cannabinoids you get per one dollar, this Lazarus oil gets you the most.
But where Lazarus Naturals oil doesn’t score as high is the variety of its cannabinoid-profile.
R+R Medicinals oil has notably more different cannabinoids than this Lazarus Naturals oil.
The more different cannabinoids inside an oil, the more effective it is.
Also the ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids is lower than other oils.
This is a very CBD-dominant oil. Its cannabinoid-profile is much less balanced than let’s say an oil from Receptra Naturals.
It’s quite possible that this oil is boosted with CBD isolate.
So while this oil is much cheaper than other full-spectrum oils, its cannabinoid-profile isn’t as diverse.
That said, if you’re looking for the cheapest full-spectrum CBD oil in terms of how many milligrams of CBD you get dollar, this is it.

The first-pass effect is the degradation of compounds in the:
- gastrointestinal tract, and,
- liver,
before they reach the bloodstream.
The gastrointestinal tract and liver metabolize CBD. This leads to less CBD in your bloodstream.
Recently developed techniques have attempted to break CBD down into smaller liposomal lipids. The theory is that the liposomal version of CBD is more bio-available than the regular form.

Now:
There are various ‘nano-emulsified’ or ‘liposomal’ CBD products on the market.
But there’s only one that has some scientific evidence for its efficacy:
SOL CBD Advanced Liposomal CBD.
This CBD oil is manufactured with CellG8 technology. This is a new patent-pending process for liposomal delivery of hemp-extract.
Scientific Sources

If these study results are true…
It means you would need MUCH less CBD to achieve the same effects with this product. How much exactly is unclear. The study didn’t look at the differences in effects, only in bio-availability.
Based on our experience, liposomal CBD can have the same effects as regular CBD, with half the dose.
Further studies should show how effective liposomal CBD truly is. For now, based on our experience, we assume that 100mg of SOL CBD liposomal is equal to 200mg of regular CBD.
If liposomal CBD is only 2-times more effective than regular CBD, this is a very expensive oil.
However:
If liposomal CBD is 17x more effective, this is the most affordable product on the list.
A single bottle of this liposomal CBD costs $90 and contains 300mg of liposomal CBD.
Buying this product could be like buying:
- 5100mg of regular CBD for $90, or
- 600mg of regular CBD for $90.
That’s a huge difference. The truth is probably somewhere in-between.
The basic facts:
A single dollar ($1) gets you 3.3 mg of THC-free, broad-spectrum, CellG8 liposomal hemp-extract.
I’m a bit skeptical. Until more evidence is available, I will put this CBD product lower on the list than it may deserve.

A few important points:
- Keep in mind that CBDfx vape oil contains a lot of added terpenes that’s why the blue bar is so high.
- Keep in mind that Sol-Liposomal CBD could be anywhere between 2 to 17 times more effective than regular CBD. We didn’t incorporate this into the chart.
The Cheapest CBD Gummies That Are Still of Great Quality
Although CBD gummies are more expensive than CBD oils, when we look at how much hemp compounds you get per $1…
They are more convenient to take.
Not everyone likes the idea of pulling out a bottle and dropping oil with a big dropper under the tongue.
Using CBD oil tincture isn’t very discreet. So if you’re looking for a convenient or discreet method to use CBD, gummies are one of your best options.

1. R+R Medicinals CBD Gummies (Most Affordable Full-Spectrum Gummies Based on CBD per 1$)
First:
R+R Medicinals gummies are one of the only true full-spectrum CBD gummies on the market.
While most CBD gummies contain only CBD, or CBD plus a few trace amounts of other cannabinoids…
These gummies are infused with the full spectrum of hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes.
Besides CBD, these gummies contain the following cannabinoids:
- THC (< 0.3%);
- CBC, and;
- CBG.
They also contain terpenes like
- Linalool, and;
- Limonene.
For $1 you get 17.5 mg of full-spectrum hemp-extract. Out of this hemp extract, 17mg is CBD and 0.5mg is minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
Out of all full spectrum gummies on the market, these gummies will give you the most CBD per dollar in mg. Therefore they made it to the top of our list.
If you want to keep your gummies fully plant-based, you’ll also be happy to know that all ingredients inside these gummies are vegan.
The best part?
While these gummies taste amazing, the sugar content is low: 3.5 grams of sugar per gummy.
A single gummy contains 25mg of full-spectrum hemp-extract…
Making this one of the most potent CBD gummies you can get.

2. Rceptra Naturals Gummies (Most Affordable Full-Spectrum Gummies Based on Hemp Extract per $1)
Looking at how much CBD you get per dollar, Receptra Naturals gummies are only around the average.
However:
When you look at how many:
- minor cannabinoids, and,
- terpenes,
you get per dollar, Receptra Naturals Gummies are the cheapest you can get.
For every 1$, you get at least 4mg of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
Also when you look at how much CBD you get per dollar, these gummies are only slightly below R+R Medicinals gummies. For every 1$, you get 16mg CBD.
Comparing how much full-spectrum hemp extract you get per dollar, these gummies are even more affordable than R+R Medicinals gummies (17.5 mg vs 20mg).
Receptra Naturals is a highly trustworthy brand. They have been selling CBD products even way before CBD got federally legalized in 2018.
It’s also one of the only brands that use cold ethanol extraction to produce its products.
Why does this matter?
Cold ethanol extraction preserves more hemp-derived compounds than any other extraction method.
However, it’s an expensive extraction method.
That’s why it’s so amazing Receptra Naturals has kept their prices so affordable.

3. CBDfx Gummies (Most Affordable Broad-Spectrum Gummies)
These are the most affordable THC-free gummies, that still have some minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
The amount of minor cannabinoids and terpenes you get is very low. But it’s still better than a CBD isolate product.
For 1 dollar you get 0.5 mg of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
And when you look at how much CBD you get per dollar, these gummies are just as affordable as the cheapest isolate gummies.
For 1 dollar you get 30mg of CBD.
If you want to get isolate gummies because they’re so cheap, get these broad-spectrum gummies instead.
They’re just as cheap. But at least you get a small quantity of extra cannabinoids and terpenes that enhance the benefits of CBD.
CBDfx is also a highly trustworthy brand. You don’t have to worry about contaminations or mislabeling.

4. Joy Organics CBD Gummies (Most Affordable Terpene-Rich, Broad-Spectrum Gummies)
While true full-spectrum CBD gummies are hard to find…
True, THC-free, broad-spectrum CBD gummies are probably even harder to find.
See, most CBD gummies contain nothing else but CBD. Most THC-free, broad-spectrum gummies only have a few trace elements of other cannabinoids at best (CBDfx gummies, for example).
They’re not truly infused with a full- or broad-spectrum hemp extract.
Well, when it comes to the best, affordable, THC-free, broad-spectrum CBD gummies…
Joy Organics makes it to the top of the list.
Not because of how much CBD you get per dollar, which is quite low (8.82mg)…
But because out of all broad-spectrum gummies, these gummies will give you the most minor cannabinoids and terpenes per dollar.
You get at least 1mg of minor cannabinoids and terpenes per dollar with these gummies. This is the highest amount of all broad-spectrum gummies we’ve ever reviewed.
Most CBD gummies don’t contain any terpenes at all. That’s why it’s remarkable that these gummies contain hemp-derived terpenes. Terpenes are an often overlooked ingredient of CBD products. But terpenes may synergize with CBD as well.
In addition to being THC-free, these gummies are:
- Vegan;
- Gluten-free, and;
- Taste great with two different flavor options, green apple and strawberry lemonade.

5. JustCBD Gummies (Most Affordable Isolate Gummies)
As explained earlier in the article, for the best benefits CBD has to offer…
We highly recommend getting a full-spectrum, or at least a broad-spectrum CBD product.
Hemp has hundreds of different compounds inside.
All of them have unique beneficial effects, plus most of them enhance the benefits of CBD.
Still, against our recommendation, some people only want CBD and nothing else.
For these people, getting these JustCBD gummies makes sense.
Generally, when we look at how much CBD you get for a single dollar, CBD isolate are the cheapest type of CBD products.
JustCBD gummies are an example of affordable and high-quality CBD gummies that ONLY contain CBD.
For $1 you get 30.3 mg of CBD.
What I like most about these gummies is that you have the option to get sugar-free gummies.
There are very few CBD gummies that are sugar-free. If avoiding sugar is a top priority for you, JustCBD gummies are currently your best option.

The Cheapest CBD Softgels and Capsules That Are Still of Great Quality
Softgels are another convenient and discreet method of using CBD.
It’s much easier to pop a few pills of CBD than drop oil under your tongue with a dropper.
Most CBD softgels and capsules are simply an encapsulated form of CBD oil.
Usually, they’re a bit less cost-effective than regular CBD oil.
Some CBD softgels contain nano-emulsified hemp extract. In theory, nano-emulsified CBD is better absorbed by your body than regular CBD. But without any evidence, you can’t prove how much more potent nano-emulsified CBD is.
A few studies show that found nano-emulsified CBD is better absorbed by your body compared to regular CBD. But these studies aren’t brand specific. The few studies that are brand-specific are funded by the brands in question. That’s like grading your own exam. Thus we take these results with a healthy dose of skepticism.
That said, if you’re looking for a discreet way to use CBD, softgels are another quick and discreet way to use CBD.

1. R+R Medicinals CBD Softgels (Best Affordable Full-Spectrum Softgels )
By now you should know:
If R+R Medicinals has a CBD product in a particular category, you can be sure that it’s among the most affordable options.
These softgels are without a doubt the best value for money, full-spectrum softgels.
$1 gets you 25.5mg of full-spectrum hemp extract. 22mg of it is CBD, and 3.5mg of it consists of minor cannabinoids and terpenes that act synergistically to CBD.
According to R+R Medicinals, these softgels contain nano-emulsified full-spectrum hemp-extract. The main difference between their CBD oil and softgels are that the softgels have:
- a slower onset of effects, but,
- longer lasting effects.
If you take CBD oil sublingually, this would theoretically be true.
Various studies show that CBD has a quicker onset of effects when taken sublingually compared to when it’s only swallowed.
But when you take CBD sublingually, you also swallow it. This means the difference in effects won’t be that big in practice.
For me, the biggest difference between CBD oil and softgels is the convenience of taking softgels.
In my experience, which also has some science to back it, CBD taken together with dietary fats like olive oil has the best effects.
But it doesn’t really matter if you take CBD in the form of an oil/tincture or softgels.
Never take these softgels on an empty stomach, and you’ll be fine.

2. cbdMD Softgels (Most Affordable THC-free, Broad-Spectrum Softgels)
If you don’t want any THC inside your softgels, you have to avoid softgels with full-spectrum hemp extract.
But even if you don’t want any THC, you should still get other hemp-derived compounds with your CBD softgels.
Well, when it comes to high-quality and affordable broad-spectrum, or THC-free softgels…
cbdMD makes it to the top of the list.
$1 gets you 18.66mg of broad-spectrum hemp extract.
From this, 16.66 is CBD, and 2mg consists of minor cannabinoids and terpenes.
These softgels come in different dosing versions.
The highest is dose is 50mg of CBD per soft gel.
But if you want to experiment with low doses of CBD, you can even get softgels that only contain 15 mg CBD.

3. Lazarus Naturals Full Spectrum CBD Softgels – 200mg (Most Affordable, Period)
When it comes to value-for-money CBD brands, Lazarus Naturals consistently makes it to top of the list.
While their products don’t have an as amazing cannabinoid-profile as some other brands…
The price point of their products more than makes up for it.
Lazarus Naturals CBD products are much more affordable than the average.
But when it comes to the absolute most affordable CBD products, these 200mg softgels make it to the top of the list.
A single softgel contains 200mg CBD, plus a small number of minor cannabinoids in small concentrations.
Based on the lab-test reports, these softgels are truly full-spectrum. This means they also contain small levels of THC.
These small amounts of THC aren’t enough to get you high, especially considering the amount of CBD inside. CBD counteracts a lot of the psychoactive effects of THC.
But it is enough THC for you to fail a drug-test.
But how affordable are these softgels really?
Well, when we compare how much CBD you get per dollar to the other options on the list, we see the following:
- You get 90mg CBD per $1.
- You get 1.48mg minor cannabinoids per $1.
- You get 30mg added terpenes per $1, the main ones being limonene and myrcene.
Since the terpenes are added terpenes, I don’t add them to the total hemp extract you get per dollar.
So the total hemp extract you get per one dollar is 91.48mg.
This is more than 3-times the full-spectrum hemp-extract you get per one dollar than with R+R Medicinals sofgtels.
But here’s the kicker:
The ratio of CBD to minor cannabinoids is much better with R+R Medicinals.
So with R+R Medicinals, for every 1mg of CBD, you get significantly more minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBC. These cannabinoids have unique benefits, but also make the CBD much more effective.
This means 1mg of CBD from R+R Medicinals softgels will be significantly more effective than 1mg of CBD from these Lazarus Naturals softgels.
It’s hard to put an exact number on how much more effective R+R Medicinals softgels will be. But as explained before, in one study full-spectrum CBD was 4-times more effective than purified CBD (1).
Now:
These Lazarus softgels aren’t purified. But they’re significantly less ‘full-spectrum’ than the softgels from R+R Medicinals.
That said…
If you look at the numbers, specifically at how much CBD you get per one dollar, these are the most affordable softgels, period.

How We Rate CBD Products on Quality and Affordability
To learn exactly how we rate CBD products, please read our CBD products rating system.
What Type of CBD Product Gets You The Most Value for Your Money?
If you want to use CBD as cheap as possible, is it better to get CBD oil, gummies, softgels, or distillates and powders?
To give you this answer we calculated the following for every type of CBD product:
- How much CBD you get for every dollar, and;
- How much CBD + minor cannabinoids and terpenes you get for every dollar.
All CBD product reviewers rate value on how much one mg of CBD costs.
However, rating CBD products based on how much one mg of CBD costs, only shows you a small part of the picture.
It’s a big mistake to exclusively rate the value of CBD products based on the price of the CBD. The minor cannabinoids and terpenes are equally important.
Because:
CBD taken together with minor cannabinoids and terpenes is way more potent than CBD taken as an isolated compound.
So when you compare CBD prices, you need to take these minor cannabinoids and terpenes into account.
The chart below shows how much:
- CBD per dollar, and,
- minor cannabinoids + terpenes,
every type of product offers on average.
CBD gummies give the most CBD per dollar. But CBD oils give the most minor cannabinoids and terpenes per dollar.
The stats:
- Average CBD per dollar for oils: 14.28mg
- Average CBD per dollar for gummies: 16mg
- Average CBD per dollar for softgels: 13.36mg
- Average minor cannabinoids+terpenes per dollar for oils: 2.81mg
- Average minor cannabinoids+terpenes per dollar for gummies: 2.65mg
- Average minor cannabinoids+terpenes per dollar for softgels: 2.49mg
Based on our reviews, the differences between type of CBD products aren’t significant. There are, however, huge differences between brands.
How Much CBD Do I Need to Experience Its Effects?
As you can see, there are large differences between products and brands, in the amount of CBD and other hemp compounds you get for every $1.
How much CBD you need to experience its effects is dependent on the following factors:
- Extract type (full-spectrum CBD products are more potent than CBD isolate products);
- Consumption method (vaping CBD compared to taking it orally leads to a quick onset of effects, but the effects last shorter);
- Your purpose for using CBD (if you’re using CBD for pain relief, you may need more than for sleep improvement);
- Your metabolism of CBD, and;
- Other physical characteristics like weight and body mass.
It’s very hard to give general guidelines.
We dedicated a complete article to everything related to using CBD:
How Cheap Should You Go With CBD Products
If you only want CBD and not any other hemp-derived compounds, you can get very cheap CBD isolate products. Some of them have a purity of 99%.
For as little as $8, you can get 1000 milligrams of CBD isolate powder, which is 125mg of CBD for $1.
This is much cheaper than any CBD oil.
I still wouldn’t recommend getting this though. Because as explained before, various studies show that CBD is much more potent taken as part of a full-plant hemp extract. Plus it produces fewer side effects this way.
The most affordable regular CBD oil is the one from R+R Medicinals.
The most affordable liposomal CBD oil is the one from SOL CBD.
Why You Have to Be Careful with Cheap CBD Products
As explained before, hemp is a bio-accumulator plant. It absorbs contaminants from its cultivated soil.

Cultivating hemp plants contaminant- and pesticide-free is simply more expensive. But when it comes to ingestible health products like CBD products, you don’t want to take any health risks.
NEVER buy CBD products from a questionable source, saving a few dollars is not worth the health risk.
How to be 100% Sure That Your CBD Products Are Clean
The first way to make sure that your products are 100% clean of contaminants like:
- heavy metal micro-particles,
- residual solvents,
- bacteria,
- fungi
- and pesticides,
is checking whether your product comes with a certificate of analysis (COA).
If you find it , make sure that the COA is for your production batch.
Once, you’ve found that it is, you need to check for the following tests:
- Cannabinoid-profile and -content;
- Terpenoid-profile and -content;
- Absence/presence of heavy metals;
- Absence/presence of mycotoxins;
- Absence/presence of pesticides;
- Absence/presence of residual solvents.
Once you’ve found all these tests and found that the particular product you’re interested in, is clean, you can be relatively sure that you have a clean product.
If you want extra assurance, I recommend you verify where them is sourced. You could also ask what type of farming principles are being adhered to.
A question that we always ask before reviewing a CBD brand and you could ask is the following:
What farming principles are being adhered to? Organic? non-organic? Does the farmer make use of organic/non-organic pesticides?
