Today you’re getting a list of the best CBD isolate products. While we prefer full-spectrum CBD products, isolated CBD has an important role to fulfill:
It’s an easy and cheap way to make your favorite CBD oil even more potent and to test what kind of effect CBD has on you. If you experience any benefits with CBD isolate, it will be extremely easy to re-create the same effects: just use the exact same dose.
Full-spectrum CBD oils can have widely differing cannabinoid- and terpene-profiles between brands and even between production batches of the same brand.
Isolated CBD is always the same: it’s only the CBD molecule, nothing else. Once you’ve found your effective dose, you can expect the same results each and every time you take it.
Since with CBD isolate products, there isn’t much to rate in terms of cannabinoid- and terpene-profiles, we rate CBD isolate products on the following metrics:
- Safety and transparency of the brand/product;
- Value (expressed in terms of ‘amount of CBD per one dollar’), and;
- Customer service and customer ratings.
Let’s get started with the list.
Quick note: If you want to experience the benefits of CBD in the most effective way, I highly recommend finding either a full-spectrum or broad-spectrum (THC-free) tincture in our list of best CBD oils. Pro tip: use one of these isolate powders or crystals to make your favorite CBD oil even more potent.

#1 Lazarus Naturals Bulk CBD Isolate
Pros and Cons
- Cheapest isolate crystals
- Extremely cheap when you buy in quantities of 50g or above
- 90-day satisfaction-guarantee
- Only average crystal-purity
- Minimum amount you can buy is 5 grams
As long as a CBD isolate product fulfills the following requirements:
- It’s backed by a third-party lab-test report that proves the product contains the labeled amount of CBD and is free from contaminants like pesticides and heavy metals, and;
- Comes from a reputable and trustworthy brand without a significant amount of negative reviews…
The most important metric to rate a product is the price.
CBD isolate is generally cheap to produce, and since all CBD isolate products are biochemically the same (they only contain CBD), there isn’t much to rate in terms of other hemp-derived compounds.
Well, when it comes to affordable CBD isolate, Lazarus Naturals Bulk CBD makes it to the top of the list.
For a single dollar, you get 140 mg of CBD. And that’s the most expensive option you get with 5 grams.
If you want to buy 200 grams or more, the value suddenly jumps up by 100%, meaning a single dollar gets you at least 250mg of CBD.
This is the most affordable way to increase the potency of your favorite CBD oil. Just add a few crystals to your favorite CBD oil, and you just made your oil significantly more potent. Just make sure that your oil is not a water-soluble oil because these crystals won’t dissolve in water, only in a carrier oil like MCT oil.
It’s also the cheapest way to test very high doses of CBD. While I generally don’t recommend starting with very high doses of CBD, some people only feel CBD’s effects at these very high doses.
A high dose of CBD for me is 100mg or more. Just make sure to break the crystals up into powder, that way you won’t accidentally be ingesting large lumps of CBD and can keep your dosing consistent.
The best part?
You can test this product completely risk-free.
If for whatever reason you didn’t like this product, you can return it within 90 days (!) and get a full refund. That’s right, you get a 90-day satisfaction guarantee.
These types of policies add an immense amount of trust and show that a brand is serious about its products and quality control.
#2 Industrial Hemp Farms Isolate Powder/Crystals
Pros and Cons
- Great value for money isolate crystals/powders
- Even more affordable when you buy in bulk
- Same day shipping
- Less pure than some other CBD crystals
- Money back guarantee only for unopened products
CBD isolate powders and crystals are generally cheap.
But Industrial Hemp Farms isolate powder and crystals are even cheap for their respective categories.
With 113mg of CBD per dollar and a minimum of only a single gram, you won’t find cheaper CBD if all you want is a single gram, period.
You can get both crystals and powders. The difference is that the powder is much easier to dose since its particle size is consistent. But the powder is slightly less pure than the crystals. The powder has a purity of around 96%. The crystals have a purity of 98%.
If you want to use these powders or crystals to directly take dosages of CBD, I highly recommend getting the powder. The powder is easier to dose than lumps of crystals with varying sizes.
Again, since CBD isolate products contain literally nothing but CBD, price is one of the most important metrics in rating these products.
With full-spectrum and broad-spectrum products, the cannabinoid- and terpene-profile of a product are a really important part of rating them. But also more generally, the more cannabinoids and terpenes a CBD product contains, the higher we rate its effectiveness and nutritional profile.
But when you compare products that have a cannabinoid profile that consists of nothing but CBD…
There isn’t much to rate in terms of cannabinoid- and terpene-profiles…
And the price suddenly becomes a much more important metric. Buying a more expensive product is better justifiable when it has a better nutritional profile.
Of course, as with all the products on this list, this product is third-party lab-tested and is shipped on the same day that you order it.
Although they say on their website that they have a 30-day money-back guarantee, this only holds true for ‘unopened products’. So this isn’t really a satisfaction guarantee.
That being said, I don’t see why you would ever want to send back a product that has a price of $8,50…even if you didn’t like it.
#3 Caliper CBD Water-Soluble Powder
Pros and Cons
- Preliminary study shows this type of CBD is 4-times more bioavailable than regular CBD
- Preliminary study shows this type of CBD produces effects quicker than regular CBD
- If this study’s findings are true, this product offers great value for your money
- Much lower purity than other isolate powders
- Pricey compared to other isolate products
Although at Herbonaut full-spectrum CBD oil is our preferred method of taking CBD, the truth is:
Regular oil-soluble CBD doesn’t have the best absorption-rate.
A huge percentage of oil-soluble CBD gets broken down in the gastrointestinal tract (in some studies, estimates reach up to 90%).
Caliper CBD is a dissolvable water-soluble CBD powder that according to their own study (1):
- Has an absorption-rate that’s 4.5-times better than regular oil-soluble CBD;
- Has a faster onset of effects than oil-soluble CBD (within 15 minutes of ingestion), and;
- Reaches peak concentrations significantly sooner (54 minutes vs. 90 minutes).
If these findings are true, Caliper CBD powder is one of the quickest ways to feel the effects of pure CBD. Purely from a CBD per dollar perspective, this product gives you 13.3mg of CBD. But if you take into account the absorption-rate, the amount of effective CBD per dollar jumps up to 59.9mg.
But the best part:
It would be the quickest way to feel the beneficial effects associated with CBD when taking orally ingested CBD products (only vaping CBD would result in even quicker effects, but not everyone is into that).
Now:
Please keep in mind that this 4.5 better absorption-rate number is based on a single study, therefore we can’t accept this number as truth yet…but it definitely looks promising.
Another great benefit of this powder is that:
You can literally mix it into any hot or cold, food or drink. It has no flavor and mixes well with any type of food or drink. While testing Caliper CBD Powder, I used it in my morning and evening tea without any major changes in flavor.
When mixing, I recommend using a drink, because with a drink it’s easier to ensure that you ingest 100% of the powder.
While this product is relatively new, it already has over 1000 ratings, with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 points. You’re not ‘beta-testing’ this product, by now it’s established that it works.
The handy sachets that are pre-dosed at 20mg of CBD are also super easy to use.
Simply open the sachet and sprinkle the powder, which always contains 20mg of CBD, into your drink.
No dosing issues, no accidental spills.
#4 CBDistillery High Purity CBDelicious Isolate Powder
Pros and Cons
- 60-day satisfaction-guarantee
- One of the oldest and well-respected CBD brands
- Amazing value for money
- Doesn’t contain any other hemp-derived compounds than CBD
CBDistillery is one of the oldest and most well-trusted CBD brands in the game.
Over the years, they have built a stellar reputation by providing high-quality CBD products for a very affordable price.
And their CBD Isolate powder falls exactly under ‘high-quality’ and ‘affordable’.
The consistency of this powder is specifically made so that it can easily be mixed with drinks and food.
This powder has a purity of 98.15% and has a modest price tag of $28 for 970mg of CBD. This means you get 34.64mg of CBD per dollar.
Purely from a CBD/$ perspective, this isn’t the cheapest isolate product. But since CBDistillery is a highly trustworthy and reputable brand with great customer ratings, I think it deserves a spot on this list.
For YEARS now CBDistillery has had a 60-day satisfaction guarantee for most of its products. If their products didn’t live up to the hype, they would’ve already gone bankrupt.
You have 60 days to try this product out and see if you like the effects it produces. If for whatever reason you didn’t like the product, you will simply get your money back in this 60-day period.
And their satisfaction-guarantee is a real one. You can send back opened products, but keep in mind that you can only make use of this guarantee a single time.
A 60-day satisfaction guarantee is almost unheard of in the CBD industry. CBDistillery truly has an insane amount of trust that you’re going to like its products.
#5 Medterra CBD Oil Tincture
Pros and Cons
- One of the few CBD tinctures that contains nothing but CBD and a carrier oil (both a pro and a con)
- Purely from a CBD per dollar perspective, one of the most affordable CBD oils
- There are full-spectrum CBD oils, with great cannabinoid- and terpene-profiles that cost only a little bit more
- Pricey compared to other isolate products, if you buy CBD crystals and dissolve them in your own oil solution, you’ll spend less money
Being one of the only providers of CBD isolate tincture…Medterra CBD oil tincture contains nothing but CBD and a carrier oil (organic MCT oil).
Now:
When it comes to CBD isolate products, we prefer crystals or powders.
Here’s why:
CBD crystals simply provide better value for money. But if you take regular CBD crystals without any carrier oil, your absorption-rate will be worse. CBD is better absorbed when taken with fats like MCT oil. If you’re alright with the idea of making your own CBD isolate oil, it’ss relatively easy. All you have to do is dissolve pure CBD crystals inside an oil solution.
But not everyone is necessarily interested in doing that. Well, if you want pure CBD measured and combined with an organic carrier oil like MCT oil, Medterra CBD oil tincture would be a great choice.
While it’s not the most cost-effective choice when it comes to CBD isolate products…
It is one of the highest quality CBD-only tinctures that you can get.
#6 Healthworx CBD Isolate
Pros and Cons
- Great value for money isolate crystals
- Highest Purity (99%+)
- Even more affordable when you buy in bulk
- Relatively new brand
CBD isolate powders and crystals often have high purity levels of 95% and above.
But there are a few brands that provide close to 100% purity. And Healthworx is one of them.
This CBD isolate product has a claimed purity of 99%+. The best part? When you check the third-party lab-test reports you can see its actual purity is 100%.
This is the purest CBD isolate product on the list.
While not as affordable as Lazarus Naturals or Hemp Industrial Farms, Healthworx CBD crystals are highly affordable and the third-most affordable on the list.
A single gram of this 99+% pure CBD isolate crystals provides you with 50mg of CBD per dollar.
And if you buy 4 of these units, you even get a 35% discount, bringing the amount of CBD per dollar up to 64mg.
Although we generally prefer full-spectrum CBD, this could be another great option if you want to test high doses of pure CBD.
And even if you prefer full-spectrum products, adding these cheap CBD products to your full-spectrum product, could make it even more potent, for a very modest price.
Now:
Healthworx is a relatively new CBD company, and we are a bit wary of new CBD companies. But this specific product already has 213 reviews with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. Combine this with our own test results and the third-party lab-test reports publicly available on every product page found on their website…
And we are fully confident in giving Healthworx CBD isolate a spot on our list.
Benefits and Downsides of CBD Isolate Products vs. Other Types of CBD Products
Benefits
The biggest benefit of CBD isolate products is that it’s easy to isolate and explain the effects that you feel/experience.
Let me explain.
Although studies (2) indicate that cannabinoids like CBD are more effective when taken together with other cannabinoids and terpenes than their isolated forms…
It may be that your personal biochemistry makes you highly sensitive to a cannabinoid like THC. Although small amounts of THC are not psychoactive, if you’re highly sensitive to the compound, it’s not clear what the exact effects may be. If you’re highly sensitive to THC and you take a high dose of a full-spectrum CBD product, you may feel ‘weird’ or strange effects that you then attribute to CBD…while in reality these strange effects are caused by the THC.
This is just an example, full-spectrum CBD products can contain hundreds of hemp-derived compounds, which is also exactly the reason why we think they are the best way to take CBD…BUT with a full-spectrum CBD product, it can also be difficult to explain what specific effect that you experience is caused by what compound or a specific combination of compounds.
If you take CBD isolate you always know that whatever you feel and experience is caused by the CBD.
The second benefit of CBD isolate products is that they’re much cheaper than other types of CBD products. At least on paper…
Because if you take into account that a high-quality full-spectrum CBD product can produce the same, if not better effects, with fewer side effects, with a CBD dose that’s 4-times smaller…
You’ll come to the conclusion that it may be more cost-effective to use a full-spectrum CBD product.
That doesn’t stop you however from getting CBD isolate powder or crystals and adding them to your favorite full-spectrum CBD oil, for example. It’s an easy way to make your favorite full-spectrum oil even more potent (at least, CBD-wise).
The last major benefit is that CBD isolate products, have less of a risk to be contaminated. When you can filter every compound other than CBD out of the initial extract, you can subject the extract to a very extensive filtering process.
Downsides
I already briefly hinted at the downsides of CBD isolate products:
The fact they only contain CBD is also a major downside.
Several studies have shown that CBD may be more potent and produce fewer side effects when taken together with other cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant it’s extracted from (3).
In addition, these other cannabinoids and terpenes have uniquely beneficial effects themselves. From a holistic perspective, taking a combination of naturally connected and synergistic beneficial compounds is more beneficial than taking any isolated compound. Keep in mind that this isn’t some woo-woo stuff.
Countless studies have found that other natural compounds like vitamins are more effective when they’re taken in a natural state (4), meaning how they’re found in nature (inside apples and oranges for example).
Since the benefits of full-spectrum CBD products far outweigh their negatives, we highly recommend using a full-spectrum CBD product, if you want to experience the best that CBD has to offer.
How to Use CBD Isolate
How exactly to use your CBD isolate product is dependent on what type of product it is.
CBD isolate crystals and powder can usually be mixed into drinks and foods or even to your favorite CBD tincture/oil, and that’s also the most straightforward way to use these types of isolate products. Another way is to put the crystals or powder under your tongue, but this isn’t the most convenient method IMO.
CBD isolate oils you use sublingually (under your tongue) first, and secondly, you swallow the drops of tincture.

CBD Isolate Vape
To use CBD isolate vape oils, you need a proper vape pen. Important note: you have to use the right pen at the right temperature, otherwise you risk burning your vape oil and you risk inhaling toxic by-products.
We haven’t listed any vape oils on this list. If you’re interested in vape oils and how to use them read:
Where to Buy CBD Isolate
Only buy CBD products from reputable brands and websites that show third-party lab-test reports. NEVER buy a CBD product without a third-party lab-test report. We want to be 100% sure that the product contains the claimed amount of CBD, and is completely free of contaminants and toxins.
Should I Buy CBD Isolate Oil?
It would be cheaper if you buy CBD crystals or powder and dissolve this inside your own oil. This way you make your own ‘CBD oil’ that can be as potent as you want for a much lower price.
CBD Isolate for Pain
Various studies indicate that the combination of CBD and THC is more effective in relieving pain than either one alone.
Your best chance to relieve pain is therefore not a CBD isolate product, but a full-spectrum CBD product that contains THC as well.
Topical CBD products are also highly effective in relieving localized pain.
CBD Isolate for Anxiety
In two studies CBD isolate has been found effective for anxiety in doses ranging from 300mg to 600mg.
These are very high doses, and I highly recommend starting out with lower doses.
For anxiety specifically, we highly recommend checking out the products in this article:
How Much CBD Isolate Powder/Crystals to Use
CBD isolate powder and crystals are less potent than full-spectrum products.
With full-spectrum products, we generally recommend starting with a dose that equals 25mg of CBD.
With CBD isolate, we generally recommend 40-50 mg. But if you have a product like Caliper’s water-soluble powder that could be 4.5-times more bioavailable, I recommend that you simply stick to the manufacturer’s recommended dose. In the case of Caliper water-soluble powder that’s 20mg.
