Herbonaut’s recommendation: The best way to vape CBD is with high-CBD flower and a dry herb vaporizer. Why is this the best method? Because it’s more natural and more effective than using man-made vape juices.

1. CBDfx OG Kush CBD Terpene Vape Liquid (Best Terpene-Rich Juice)

cbdfx-vape-oil-ReviewIf you’re a Herbonaut regular, you know that when it comes to CBD products, we prefer ‘full spectrum’ CBD products.

Here’s why:

When you take CBD together with a full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes, it’s more effective.

Not only do most compounds found in the hemp plant have uniquely beneficial effects (1)…

In some cases, they work together to enhance CBD’s beneficial effects (2). This last effect is called the ‘entourage effect’.

Now:

CBD vape products are never truly full spectrum. Because to make hemp-extract ‘vapeable’ it needs to go through a manufacturing process. This process removes a lot of the compounds that are in the original crude hemp extract.

But if you’re looking for a vape oil that comes somewhat close to full spectrum, this vape juice is the best you can get.

This juice belongs to the ‘CBD Terpenes Oil’ line. Any oil from this line is infused with naturally-derived terpenes from the hemp plant. The one we like the best is “OG Kush”.

We love our CBD products completely natural. This product tastes exactly like the OG Kush strain. How? With the help of an all-natural hemp-derived terpene complex.

While this e-liquid doesn’t contain additional hemp-derived cannabinoids like CBG or CBN…

It’s PACKED with natural hemp-derived terpenes.

A significant percentage (13.8%) of this e-liquid is made of terpenes. This is probably the most terpene-rich CBD product (not just vape juice) that we’ve ever tested.

These terpenes not only give this juice the most amazing natural taste…

But they’re associated with beneficial effects as well.

For example:

  • β-myrcene (4.2%) has pain-reducing, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, and sleep-improving effects (3).
  • β-caryophyllene (1.5%) has pain-reducing, anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, anti-oxidant, and anti-bacterial effects (4).

This product contains 17 different terpenes and each has at least one health benefit.

The CBD content is lower than most other options on the list. But 1 mg CBD from this product will be more potent than 1 mg CBD from other vape products.

It’s also one of the few options on the list that comes with a satisfaction guarantee. The satisfaction guarantee isn’t official policy anymore. But if you email customer support with the reason why you aren’t satisfied, you usually get a refund or can try a different product.

When you look at how much CBD you get per dollar, this product is quite expensive. Yet, when we look at how many terpenes you get per dollar, it’s the most affordable option on the list. One dollar gets you 72mg CBD + terpenes. A large part of that 72mg being terpenes.

Even though this juice has more terpenes than CBD in it, that’s exactly the reason why we rate it as the ‘best’.

Terpenes are highly beneficial compounds because:

  • they have positive health benefits,
  • may act synergistically to CBD, and,
  • give the best taste to CBD products in an all-natural way.

And this is the most terpene-rich option on the list.

2. VaporFi DIY – CBD Custom Blend (Best Full-Spectrum Juice)

vaporfi-cbd-vape-oil-ReviewBeing one of the other options if you’re looking for a vape juice with a variety of hemp-derived compounds…

VaporFi CBD vape juice is one of the few products that has small amounts of other cannabinoids than CBD in it.

They prove this with the help of third-party lab-test reports.

We can’t mention the value of having more cannabinoids inside your CBD product enough.

While CBD as a stand-alone compound is effective…

It’s more effective when taken together with other cannabinoids and terpenes.

Keep in mind that the levels of other cannabinoids in this product are low. We would definitely have liked higher concentrations.

In general:

Oils and gummies have much higher levels of minor cannabinoids and terpenes than vape products. So if you want to experience the benefits of a true full-spectrum CBD product, try those out.

That said, it’s one of your only options if you want at least some other cannabinoids. When it comes to cannabinoids inside CBD vape products, 95% of them contain nothing but CBD. Even the terpene-rich CBDfx vape juice contains no other cannabinoids than CBD.

This product contains low levels of THC. THC makes the product more effective. But if you’re regularly subjected to drug-tests, avoid this product.

If you like experimenting with flavors, know that you can customize your juice with 3 different flavors. You can choose out of 31 different flavorings. This means you can make 26970 different flavor combinations.

With VaporFi you don’t take any health risks. Even the non-hemp ingredients inside their products, like:

  • the vegetable glycerin, and,
  • propylene glycol,

come with third-party lab tests.

With VaporFi you always know exactly what you’re vaping:

A clean juice with responsibly-sourced ingredients.

3. Naked 100 CBD E-Liquid (Best Throat Hit)

naked-100-cbd-vape-oil-ReviewWhile Most CBD vape oil manufacturers are more general ‘CBD-products’ manufacturers…

Naked 100 is one of the few old and trusted ‘regular’ vape juice manufacturers with a CBD line.

Naked 100 produces high-quality vape juices since 2015.

Regular Naked 100 vape juices are the best if you’re into fruit or tropical flavors.

The best part?

The CBD line comes with some of these flavors, including the ones we like the most:

  • Hawaiian POG, and,
  • Really Berry.

They taste as good as the original. The only difference is that they’re enriched with CBD.

Now, if you like a good ‘throat hit’ while vaping, this is the juice that you should get.

Naked 100 CBD E-liquid contains a ratio of 70% propylene glycol (PG) and only 30% vegetable glycerin (VG).

VG produces more of a ‘lung hit’. It’s heavy on the lungs and quite comparable to breathing in air with very high humidity levels.

PG produces a stronger throat hit and provides a fuller flavor.

While this product is advertised as broad-spectrum, it only has very low levels of other cannabinoids.

That said, at least it contains some other cannabinoids than CBD. 95% of CBD vape products have NO other cannabinoids. So some is better than none.

Bottom line?

If you’re looking for a vape product that has:

  • the best fruity/tropical flavor,
  • produces the best throat hit, and,
  • has at least some other cannabinoids than CBD,

Naked 100 CBD E-Liquid is your best option.

4. Blue Moon Hemp Kush – CBD Total Eclipse 1000mg (Good Value)

blue-moon-hemp-cbd-vape-oil-ReviewBlue Moon Hemp is another CBD vape oil manufacturer that ticks every box to be qualified as ‘premium’.

They provide lab-test reports that are publicly available. You know exactly what cannabinoids their vape juice contains. And these lab-tests that are conducted by an independent 3rd-party testing facility.

You always have proof that you’re getting clean vape juice.

They keep the ingredients simple:

  • broad-spectrum CBD-extract,
  • bio-based (Non-GMO Corn) PG,
  • VG, and,
  • a natural flavoring of your choice.

You can get Blue Moon Hemp CBD e-liquid in five different flavors. The one we like the most is ‘Kush’. Although not as close to the original taste of the Kush cannabis strain as CBDfx’s OG Kush juice, this one comes very close.

They achieve this Kush flavor with all-natural flavorings. It’s unclear whether they use terpenes. But it’s likely they do. There are no other reliable ways to create cannabis flavorings than using terpenes.

Now:

This product is supposed to be a broad-spectrum product. Broad-spectrum means that it should contain extra cannabinoids and/or terpenes. Not just CBD.

But when we check the third-party lab-test reports, we only see CBD present. Either:

  • these other cannabinoids and/or terpenes are there in low non-detectable concentrations, or,
  • they’re not present at all.

Trace elements of other cannabinoids and terpenes are still better than none. But we like to see higher concentrations for broad-spectrum products.

The good thing is:

You can test whether this product works for you risk-free. It comes with a 30-day trial for new customers.

If you don’t experience any benefits, just send it back within 30 days and get your money back.

5. Koi CBD Vape Juice (Best Transparency)

koi-cbd-vape-oil-ReviewAnother trustworthy supplier of CBD vape products, Koi CBD is an American brand. Until recently they just produced vape products. It was their specialty.

At the start of hemp legalization in 2018, Koi CBD was the only CBD vape brand that provided full lab analysis. With Koi CBD, we know for sure that their products have always been free from:

  • residual solvents,
  • heavy metals, and,
  • mycotoxins.

And although many manufacturers have caught up with providing certificates of analysis…

Koi CBD can always pride itself on being one of the first doing exactly that. They helped to set the standards for today.

Even today, it’s one of the most transparent manufacturers. It provides third-party lab-test reports on a batch-by-batch basis.

But Koi’s transparency and dedication to quality control isn’t the only reason why we we rate Koi CBD so high.

Koi CBD products always produce noticeable effects when it comes to how we test CBD products:

  • How the oil affects sleep;
  • How the oil affects inflammation/pain after a demanding workout, and;
  • How well it decreases my tendency to get irritated on a bad day.

Fast forward to today and Koi CBD still provides the same quality as when we first tested their vape oil, 2 years ago.

But here comes the catch:

Koi CBD had 2 years to innovate and add at least a CBD vape juice with infused terpenes. Instead they broadened their assortment with other CBD products that aren’t unique. This product contains no other hemp compounds than CBD and has artificial flavorings.

Despite this, we still rate this product as one of the best CBD juices you can get. Koi a transparent company and their product works.

6. Avida Blue Razz CBD Vape Juice (Best Value From a CBD/$ Perspective)

avida-cbd-vape-oil-ReviewWhile this e-liquid contains no other hemp-derived compounds than CBD…

It comes from a transparent company and it’s one of the best berry-tasting juices we have tried.

Also, it will get you the most CBD per dollar of all the options on the list. A single dollar gets you 27.27mg of CBD. Compared to the average of 19.69mg, this is good value for your money.

Keep in mind that this product doesn’t contain any other cannabinoids or terpenes. A broad- or full-spectrum juice like the one from CBDfx or VaporFi may produce more potent effects per mg of CBD.

1mg of full-spectrum CBD is more potent than 1mg of CBD isolate.

But you can try Avida vape juice risk-free. All Avida products come with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for new customers. They make you jump through a few hoops to get your refund though. You have to return the product and pay for its shipping costs.

The bottom line:

If all you care about is getting the most CBD for the least amount of money, get this juice.

But it comes from a transparent company and the product works.

Although not the oldest, it’s one of the older brands that has been active since before the hype started in 2018.

Rest assured that their vape juice is clean and contains decent amounts of CBD.

What Exactly Is CBD Vape Juice/CBD Vape Oil?

CBD vape juice is a ‘regular’ vape juice that is enriched with CBD. It usually contains the following three ingredients:

  • CBD-extract, which can be full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate;
  • Two base ingredients that make the juice vapeable: propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, and;
  • One or more natural or artificial flavorings.

Now, these 3 ingredients are the basis. Manufacturers can add other ingredients as well, like:

  • terpenes, or,
  • other cannabinoids like THC.

But this is less common.

Manufacturers can also add unwanted ingredients. Or fail to remove unwanted ingredients from their end-product. Some of these ingredients could be dangerous to your health. That’s why it’s extremely important that you only buy products that are proven to be clean. Don’t buy products without a certificate of analysis.

I can’t stress this point enough:

Only buy products from manufacturers that provide a lab-analysis report. This report should come from an independently-acting testing-facility.

How to Use CBD Vape Oil?

As you would’ve expected, you should vape this with a suitable vape device.

The products on this list can all be vaped with any type of vaping device that vapes regular vape juice.

We always recommend using low-wattage/low-voltage/low-temperature vaporizers or vaporizer settings.

But again:

It’s crucial that you know your particular CBD oil can be used in a vaporizer.

How can you know this?

You want to be 100% sure that there are no edible oils like olive oil or coconut oil used in your CBD oil.

Vaping edible oils is dangerous for your health. It can cause exogenous lipoid pneumonia (ELP) (5).

Look for CBD oils that are specifically manufactured for vaping, they usually contain:

  • Vegetable Glycerin (VG), and/or;
  • Propylene Glycol (PG).

And are specifically named ‘CBD vape oil’ or ‘CBD vape juice’.

CBD vape oil will take effect immediately, but will only last 1-2 hours.

Can CBD Vape Juice Get You High?

Federally legal CBD vape juice can’t get you high. Unless you take extremely high quantities or are unusually sensitive to THC.

Federally legal CBD products always contain less than 0.3% THC. THC is the compound that gets you ‘high’. 0.3% THC is not enough to get you high unless you take very large concentrations or are highly sensitive to THC.

Most products on this list contain much less THC than 0.3%. The CBD products on this list won’t get you high.

However:

Keep in mind that you may fail a drug test with any of these products. Even though these products have very low levels of THC, trace elements of THC can found in your blood. Even low concentrations of THC show up on a drug-test.

What’s the Difference Between Regular Vape Juice and the CBD-Variant?

The difference between regular vape juice and CBD vape juice is that the latter is enriched with:

  • purified CBD, or,
  • hemp-extract.

Regular vape usually contains only the following two ingredients:

  • one or two base ingredients that make the juice vapeable: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, and;
  • a flavoring.

When you add purified CBD or hemp-extract to these two ingredients you get CBD vape juice.

CBD Vape Products vs Oils/Tinctures

Edible CBD oils/tinctures usually are more natural. They’re closer to the original plant the CBD is extracted from.

Especially if you have a full-spectrum edible CBD oil, your oil will have many beneficial hemp compounds. Not only CBD, but other cannabinoids and terpenes. Other cannabinoids and terpenes make CBD more effective.

The average CBD oil will have a much better cannabinoid- and terpene-profile than the average CBD vape product. Most vape juices only contain very low concentrations of hemp compounds other than CBD.

A single milligram of hemp-extract from a high-quality full-spectrum edible CBD tincture will be more potent than a single milligram of hemp-extract from any vape juice.

Compared to ingesting CBD orally, when you vape CBD, the effects will be felt much quicker (within 5-15 minutes vs 1-2 hours). But the effects will last shorter (1-2 hours vs 4-5 hours when ingested orally).

Edible CBD oils are not vapeable. NEVER try to vape your CBD oil tincture. Almost all of them contain a carrier oil like MCT oil and edible oils are dangerous to vape.

Some brands advertise that their vape oils can be taken orally. But I don’t recommend orally ingesting CBD vape oil ever. If you plan to ingest CBD, get a high-quality edible full-spectrum CBD oil.
