NuLeaf Naturals has been producing hemp-extracts since 2014. Until recently, all they sold was this hemp-extract in the form of varying bottle sizes.
All bottle sizes and capsules contain have the same potency, and the exact same ingredients, which are all organic and completely natural.
Literally, the only difference between NuLeaf Naturals CBD products is the size.
All of their products contain the exact same hemp-extract with the exact same cannabinoid- and terpene-profile.
While other CBD brands have brought out all kinds of different products ranging from gummies to topical balms, to face masks…
NuLeaf Naturals has kept it simple.
You can get their all-natural, organic full-spectrum CBD hemp-extract in two different forms:
- Oil, and;
- capsules.
Now:
Where NuLeaf Naturals differentiates itself from all other brands is that they provide a different product for every major cannabinoid.

If you’re looking for a CBD brand that has kept things as natural and as simple as possible…
You’re in the right hands with NuLeaf Naturals.
Overview NuLeaf Naturals
Ever since we started publically reviewing CBD products in 2016, NuLeaf Naturals is one of our most trusted CBD brands.
Here’s why:
Although it might seem normal and to be expected right now, back when the CBD industry was in its infancy, there were only a few brands that were truly transparent about their production process and chemical profiles of their products.
NuLeaf Naturals was among the trendsetters that publicized third-party lab-test reports that showed the cannabinoid-profiles and cleanliness of their products.
It’s one of the few CBD brands that set the standards for today.
What do we like most about them?
They’re also one of the few CBD brands that have kept their products:
- Simple;
- Natural, and;
- Purely hemp-based.
Their CBD oil literally contains nothing but hemp-based ingredients (pure hemp-extract + hemp-seed oil), and their capsules only have two non-hemp-based ingredients.
Keeping things simple, natural, and ‘hempy’ has been extremely successful for them:
Their products have more than 20.000 public ratings with an average rating of 4.9 points out of 5.
NuLeaf Naturals is the best customer-rated CBD brand that exists.
With NuLeaf Naturals, you exactly know what you get:
Full-spectrum CBD products with the exact same ingredients every time, and with very similar cannabinoid- and terpene-profiles between batches.

Safety and Transparency NuLeaf Naturals
NuLeaf Naturals is highly transparent about its production process. We know:
- Under what type of farming conditions their hemp plants are grown (more on that in a bit);
- What type of extraction methods they use, and;
- What ingredients their products contain.
Their products are produced in FDA- and Colorado Department of Health-registered, ISO9- and cGMP-certified labs. Their products are also certified by The Detox Project as pesticide-free.
While this is a relatively new addition to their website, you can now look up the third-party lab-test report of your specific batch of hemp-extract that your product is made from.
This third-party lab-test report contains data about the:
- Cannabinoid-profile;
- Terpene-profile, and;
- Contamination tests (heavy metals, microbial, pesticides, residual solvents).
If you get a NuLeaf Naturals product, you can rest assured that the cleanliness and safety of your product are guaranteed.
The Source of NuLeaf Naturals CBD Products
NuLeaf Naturals CBD products are made from “specially bred cannabis Sativa hemp plants that are grown on licensed farms in Colorado”. The exact strain is unknown.
But when we look at their products, we can’t but conclude that they must use one or more strains with great cannabinoid- and terpene-profiles.
All of their products have a wide variety of hemp-derived cannabinoids, and to a lesser extent also terpenes.
Compared to Receptra Naturals CBD products, for example, NuLeaf Naturals CBD products contain a less variety of terpenes in lower concentrations.
But looking at how Receptra Naturals products are one of the only cold-ethanol-extracted products on the market, that’s not the fairest comparison.
Cold-ethanol extraction is superior to CO2-extraction when it comes to the extraction and preservation of terpenes especially (1).
When we compare NuLeaf Naturals products to other CO2-extracted CBD oils (which is 95% of what’s currently on the market), we see that their products have a much more favorable cannabinoid- and terpene-profile than almost all of them.
And the best part? They’re…
100% Hemp-Derived
With NuLeaf Naturals you know for 100% that ALL of these cannabinoids and terpenes are hemp-derived. It’s easy to add a terpene-complex to a CBD product, but if it’s not a hemp-derived terpene-complex, you can’t be sure about its potential synergy with CBD.
Although several studies indicate that terpenes play a role in making the effects of CBD more potent (2), if they don’t come from the same plant, it’s hard to tell what the effects will be.
On their website, NuLeaf Naturals state that their products are made from ‘organic hemp-extract’. This means that their hemp plants must be grown organically.
Organic doesn’t necessarily mean pesticide-free, but with NuLeaf Naturals we have assurance from a well-respected third party (the Detox Project) that their products are 100% pesticide-free.
Also, there’s an additional assurance with the third-party-lab test reports that show the results of a pesticide-test (name of the lab is Botonacor).

The Production Process of NuLeaf Naturals (After Harvesting the Hemp Plants)
NuLeaf Naturals utilizes supercritical and subcritical CO2-extraction to produce their products.
Supercritical CO2-extraction is currently the most common extraction method used by CBD producers (95% makes use of this method).
While this is a method that’s:
- Clean, and;
- Easily scalable,
it’s not the best method to extract volatile compounds like terpenes. That’s where the subcritical CO2-extraction method comes in.
The subcritical extraction method works with lower temperatures and lower pressure, meaning that volatile compounds like terpenes get preserved better.
We can see from the publicized third-party lab-test reports that NuLeaf Naturals hemp-extract has a better cannabinoid- and terpene-profile than most CO2-extracted hemp-extracts. Therefore we have to defer from this that there is truth to their statement.
The bottom line:
NuLeaf Naturals is an old-timer in the CBD industry. Ever since they started selling CBD products to the public in 2014, they have stayed true to their values:
Simple, natural, purely hemp-based, full-spectrum CBD products that are more potent and effective than 90% of CBD products.

Cannabinoid-profile
NuLeaf Naturals dominates our best CBD product lists for over 4 years now. Ever since 2017 we have tested and consumed NuLeaf Naturals products frequently.
This part of the review is specifically about their CBD oil and capsules.
Recently, NuLeaf Naturals brought out:
- CBG;
- CBC;
- CBN, and
- Delta 8 THC products as well.
We have tested and reviewed these products as well.
NuLeaf Naturals CBD Oil Potency and Effectiveness
One way to check for the potency of a CBD oil is checking test results that show cannabinoid-profile and -content, plus terpene-profile and terpene-content.
These cannabinoid and terpene test-results can also give you an indication of the ‘full spectrumness’ of a CBD oil.
- Full-spectrum CBD products contain a wide variety of hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes, including THC;
- Broad-spectrum CBD products generally contain some other cannabinoids and terpenes, but never any THC;
- CBD isolate products only contain CBD.
At Herbonaut we always recommend a full-spectrum CBD oil over broad-spectrum and CBD isolate oils.
Here’s why:
A full-spectrum CBD oil makes the best case for the ‘entourage effect’, which refers to the effect of all the compounds in the Hemp plant influencing each other in a synergistic way, increasing each other’s positive effects (3).
A recent study found that epilepsy patients that used a full-spectrum CBD oil to treat themselves, sometimes needed 4-times less of a dose (in terms of CBD mg) to achieve the same effects as epilepsy patients that used a purified CBD product (4).
A true full-spectrum CBD oil should contain a wide profile of cannabinoids and terpenes, but also should also contain these various cannabinoids and terpenes in significant concentrations.
That said, let’s scrutinize the lab test results of my NuLeaf Naturals bottle (August 2019) and see what they can tell us about this CBD oil.
Cannabinoid- and Terpene-Profile NuLeaf Naturals CBD Products (Theoretical Effectiveness Rating)
NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil contains significant concentrations of other cannabinoids than CBD.
Although there are many more cannabinoids (over 70 are known in scientific literature), the 3 most well-known and well-researched cannabinoids, other than CBD (THC, CBG, CBC), are present in significant amounts in NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil.
This means based on the cannabinoid-profile, we can qualify NuLeaf Naturals as a true full-spectrum CBD oil. Not just in name.
It contains comparable concentrations and the same cannabinoid-profile as an ethanol-extracted CBD oil like Receptra Naturals for example.
NuLeaf Naturals shows that CO2 extraction can produce similar results in terms of cannabinoid-profile, as ethanol-extraction.
But for a CBD oil to be truly full-spectrum, it also needs to contain significant concentrations and a wide enough profile of terpenes.
Terpene-profile
The two terpenes present in the highest concentrations inside NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil are:
- beta-caryophyllene, and;
- alpha-humulene.
Then there are 5 terpenes that are present but in less significant concentrations.
But what do these concentrations mean for you as the consumer?
Well, to get the most benefits from CBD oil, your oil should also contain significant concentrations of terpenes. Terpenes also play an important role in the afore-mentioned entourage effect.
We can clearly see here that NuLeaf Naturals contains significant concentrations and a relatively wide profile of terpenes.
But here’s the catch:
Although NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil indeed contains significant concentrations of beneficial terpenes, these concentrations are generally less than what we would see from premium ethanol-extracted CBD products.
This means even though NuLeaf Naturals is ‘more full spectrum’ than the majority of CBD oils, a product with the following three characteristics will score even higher on this metric:
- Produced from high-resin hemp flower;
- Extracted with cold-ethanol extraction, and;
- Didn’t undergo a decarboxylation process with high heat OR if it did the evaporated terpenes got re-introduced into the final product.
Toxins (Heavy Metals, Pesticides, Mycotoxins, and Residual Solvents)
Here we can clearly see that NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil is clean and doesn’t contain any toxic compounds or any levels of toxic compounds that could be harmful to your health.
Our Test Results with the Product (Practical Effectiveness Rating)
Now that we have looked at the theoretical effectiveness of this product, we have to see if its great cannabinoid- and terpene-profile results in potent effects when taking it for:
- Improving sleep;
- Relieving exercise-induced inflammation and pain, and;
- Reducing tenseness and irritation on ‘bad’ days.
Sleep
Improved sleep is one of the main reasons why people use CBD products. While scientific evidence is limited, there’s some evidence that shows CBD may be helpful for improving sleep.
This is how we tested NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil for sleep:
- Take a full dropper of NuLeaf Naturals oils sublingually 60 minutes before sleep;
- Check how fast I fell asleep;
- What time I wake up the next morning;
- If and how many times I woke up between me falling asleep and me getting up in the morning, and;
- Check how well rested I feel the next morning.
For me, good sleep means uninterrupted sleep of 7-8 hours and feeling well-rested the next morning. Well-rested means I don’t feel tired and have a clear mind.
To test how well NuLeaf Naturals improves my sleep, for a full week, I took a full dropper (60mg CBD) 60 minutes before sleep.
Before we get to the results, please keep in mind:
How ‘well-rested’ I feel is probably more dependent on other factors than taking CBD oil.
For example, I sleep very well when I had at least 1 hour of physical exercise on that particular day.
I don’t stop exercising when I do these tests. But checking how well I sleep on days where I don’t exercise but do take CBD oil is a more reliable way to test how well a particular CBD oil improves my sleep.
The results?
Well, I can say that this product improved my sleep. How well? It’s hard to quantify…but on days where I didn’t exercise I definitely fell asleep easier and woke up feeling more refreshed compared to days where I didn’t take this oil.
Important note: I test various doses, and when I took a double dose, I slept well but felt groggy the next morning when I woke up.
So why wouldn’t I use this oil every day for sleeping better? I believe using any product or compound to improve something on a daily basis isn’t healthy. It might create a dependency.

Inflammation and Pain
I don’t have chronic pain or any other pain conditions. But when I do a knee-dominant workout, the cartilage inside my knee gets irritated and inflamed. It’s nothing extreme, but it’s there.
A potent CBD oil definitely reduces the inflammation and pain inside my knee within 2 hours of taking it.
NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil effectively reduced the inflammation and pain in my knee within 2 hours of taking it. Its results are very comparable to other high-quality full-spectrum tinctures like those from Receptra Naturals and R+R Medicinals.

Irritation/Anxiety
On days where I had bad sleep the night before, I easily get irritated, aggressive (not physically) and can feel some anxiety.
A high-quality CBD oil puts me in a more calm and centered mood on days like these.
To test the effectiveness of NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil in relieving me of irritation, aggressiveness, and anxiety, I make sure that I have one day where I sleep badly. I only do this test a single day, because it’s not necessarily a nice experience.
On that ‘bad’ day, a few hours after waking up, I took a full dropper of NuLeaf Naturals tincture (equals 60mg of CBD). The next step was staying aware of and documenting how:
- My tendency to get irritated;
- Aggressive, and;
- My general feelings of anxiety develop.
NuLeaf Naturals was very effective in putting me in a calm and centered mood on this ‘bad’ day.
Based on my tests, I have to conclude that this is a great option for anxiety relief.
Please keep in mind:
These tests are unscientific and highly subjective. We can’t objectively ‘proof’ that one CBD oil is more potent than the other for sleep, pain, anxiety, or anything else.

Taste
Although NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil doesn’t have any sweeteners, additives, or taste-bettering carrier oils, it doesn’t taste as bitter as you would expect from an oil that’s so close to nature and the original plant.
Most CBD oils do have 1 or 2 additives to better the taste, and while these oils will taste better than NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil, Nuleaf Naturals CBD oil doesn’t taste as bitter as some other full-spectrum CBD oils.
The best way to describe it is as follows:
It’s not necessarily a pleasant taste, but definitely not horrible either.
Price
NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil isn’t the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. Its cost-range is ‘average’.
Compared to many other high-quality CBD oils you get approximately the same amount of CBD, but a better cannabinoid- and terpene-profile with NuLeaf Naturals, for the same price.
NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil gets significantly cheaper, the bigger your bottle:
A 900ml bottle gets you:
- 11,36mg CBD per $1, and;
- 1.48mg minor cannabinoids and terpenes per $1.
A 1800ml bottle gets you:
- 12,56mg CBD per $1, and;
- 1.51mg minor cannabinoids and terpenes per $1.
A 6000ml bottle gets you:
- 17,08mg CBD per $1, and;
- 2.22mg minor cannabinoids and terpenes per $1.
As you can see, with the 6000mg bottle you get 50% more CBD and hemp-extract for one dollar. If you think you will finish such a big bottle within a single year, it may very well be worth it to buy a big bottle and save yourself some money.
The averages of all CBD products we have reviewed up until now are:
- 14,57mg CBD per $1, and;
- 3.1mg minor cannabinoids and terpenes per $1.
So unless you get a bigger bottle of 6000ml, you can see NuLeaf Naturals is slightly more expensive than the average.

NuLeaf Naturals CBG Oil and Capsules Review
Pros and Cons
- One of the only full-spectrum CBG oils
- Made from organic Hemp grown in Colorado
- CBG was less sedative than CBD in our experience, could be a better option for daytime
- No satisfaction-guarantee
- CBG is still relatively underresearched compared to CBD
- Could be too stimulating for nighttime
Check current price at:
Price comparison to averages
Cannabinoid-profile
CBG is one of the ‘newer’ cannabinoids.
While research is increasing, it’s a relatively underresearched cannabinoid.
Based on the current evidence (5), we can say that CBG has:
- Pain-reducing;
- Anti-inflammatory;
- Anti-depressant, and;
- Appetite-stimulating effects.
After extensively testing NuLeaf Naturals CBG oil we came to the conclusion that it’s less sedative and more stimulating than CBD.
I wouldn’t use this product for bedtime unless I combine it with CBD or CBN. However, keep in mind that everyone reacts differently to cannabinoids.
Based on our experience this CBG oil may work well for you when:
- You find CBD products too sedative;
- You’re looking for pain relief or anxiety relief with a slightly stimulating effect;
- CBD didn’t work for you to relieve pain. CBG is associated with pain-reducing effects as well and might provide relief where CBD doesn’t.
Based on our experience, you should avoid this product:
- Close to bedtime. Or if you want to use it close to bedtime, combine it with a CBD or CBN product.
NuLeaf Naturals CBG Oil Potency and Effectiveness
Like all products from NuLeaf Naturals, this CBG oil is full-spectrum.
What this means is that you get various other cannabinoids and terpenes inside your oil.
There are several studies suggesting that CBD taken together with all other cannabinoids and terpenes is more effective than taking it as an isolate compound.
While there are no studies that looked at the synergistic effects of other cannabinoids with CBG, there’s a good chance the same holds true for CBG.
Therefore:
Whatever cannabinoid product you take, always try to go for a full-spectrum product.
Well, NuLeaf Naturals CBG oil is exactly that.
Cannabinoid-Profile
Looking at the cannabinoid-profile of this product, we can clearly see it’s ‘full-spectrum’.
Besides CBG (5.9%) there are 4 other cannabinoids present in detectable concentrations:
- CBD (0.19%);
- CBC (0.12%);
- CBN (0.12%);
- Delta-8 THC (0.12%).
All these cannabinoids are associated with unique beneficial effects of their own. And they probably enhance CBG’s beneficial effects as well (although there’s no cold hard science to back this up yet).
Terpene-Profile
There’s currently no terpene-profile available for this product.
However:
Since this product is produced from the same plants and in a similar way as NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil, we can assume it has a similar terpene-profile.
If you want to see that terpene profile, click here.
Toxins (Heavy Metals, Pesticides, Mycotoxins, and Residual Solvents)
NuLeaf Naturals provides clean products.
All of their products come with a batch number you can use to look up that specific product’s certificate of analysis.
The contaminant- and toxin test results of our batch can be seen below:
This is a completely clean product.
Our Test Results with the Product (Practical Effectiveness Rating)
We also tested this CBG oil to see how good it is at:
- Improving sleep;
- Relieving exercise-induced inflammation and pain, and;
- Reducing tenseness and irritation on ‘bad’ days.
Sleep
This is how we tested NuLeaf Naturals CBG oil for sleep:
- Take a full dropper of NuLeaf Naturals oils sublingually 60 minutes before sleep;
- Check how fast I fell asleep;
- What time I wake up the next morning;
- If and how many times I woke up between me falling asleep and me getting up in the morning, and;
- Check how well rested I feel the next morning.
The results:
CBG oil was much less sedative for me than CBD.
In fact, it was slightly stimulating.
Now:
Keep in mind this might be related to my metabolism and reaction to this specific cannabinoid.
The best way to describe the effects of CBG for me is:
- It smooths off the edges of my temperament.
- I feel a slight increase in energy;
- I feel slightly more awake, but not like coffee, way more relaxed.
Therefore I wouldn’t use this product for sleep.
But you might react differently! Therefore just experiment with it.
I also tested taking CBG oil together with CBD and CBN oil.
Both times it significantly reduced the stimulating effects of CBG and I slept much better.
Inflammation and Pain
I don’t have chronic pain or any other pain conditions. But when I do a knee-dominant workout, the cartilage inside my knee gets irritated and inflamed. It’s nothing extreme, but it’s there.
It’s an easy way for me to test the anti-inflammatory effects of a cannabinoid product.
Well, CBG oil definitely decreased the inflammation in my knee.
Was it more effective than CBD? It’s hard to say, it felt to be on the same level:
It definitely reduced the inflammation, but the inflammation wasn’t completely gone.
Irritation/Anxiety
I feel this is where CBG oil shines.
Here’s why:
While CBD products are very effective in putting me in a relaxed mood, CBD usually has quite noticeable sedative effects for me.
Well, CBG puts me in a relaxed mood as well…
But combines that with a slightly stimulating effect. I don’t feel any sedative effects when taking this oil.
This makes it a better daytime option for me for those times where I need a little help to feel more relaxed.
Taste
All NuLeaf Naturals products taste the same:
- Hempy;
- Earthy, and;
- Clean.
The carrier oil inside this product is hemp seed oil, so that’s what you’re mostly tasting.
And if you’re afraid it will taste bitter, don’t worry. You won’t taste much bitterness at all.
Price
Since CBG products are new, it’s hard to compare prices.
But we can say some things about the price of this product.
The bigger your bottle, the more CBG and other cannabinoids you get per dollar.
A 900mg, 15ml bottle gets you:
- 11,36mg CBG per $1, and;
- 13mg CBG-rich hemp-extract per $1.
But the bigger your bottle, the more cannabinoids per $1.
In an 1800mg bottle, you get 25% more CBG and other cannabinoids for one dollar.
If you’ve never tried CBG, start with a small bottle. But once you’ve experienced positive effects, definitely go for a bigger bottle. It’s a much better value-for-money option.

NuLeaf Naturals CBC Oil and Capsules Review
Pros and Cons
- One of the only full-spectrum CBC oils
- Made from organic Hemp grown in Colorado
- CBC may be a more potent pain-reducing cannabinoid than CBD
- No satisfaction-guarantee
- CBC is still relatively under-researched compared to CBD
Check current price at:
Price comparison to averages
Cannabinoid-profile
CBC is also an underresearched cannabinoid.
Based on the current evidence (5), CBC has some beneficial properties like:
- Pain-reducing;
- Anti-inflammatory;
- Anti-depressant, and;
- Anti-tumor effects.
After extensively testing NuLeaf Naturals CBC oil we came to the conclusion that is neither sedative nor stimulating.
What CBC seems to be better at than the other cannabinoids is the reduction of pain and inflammation.
It also seems to counteract some of THC’s psychoactive effects.
Keep in mind that this is based on our experience with this product. There isn’t a lot of scientific data that backs up our experience.
Based on our experience this CBC oil may work well for you when:
- You find CBD products too sedative;
- You’re looking for pain relief without any stimulating or sedative effects;
- CBD didn’t work for you to relieve pain. CBC is associated with pain-reducing effects as well and might provide relief where CBD doesn’t.
If you don’t have any pain-related or inflammatory issues, you might not see a direct benefit from this product.
NuLeaf Naturals CBC Oil Potency and Effectiveness
We believe all cannabinoids should be taken together with other hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes.
This CBC oil provides you with exactly that.
You get plenty of additional cannabinoids.
Cannabinoid-Profile
The cannabinoid-profile of this oil is very similar to that of the CBG oil. The only difference is that the concentration of CBG is swapped for CBC.
Besides CBC (5.9%) there are 4 other cannabinoids present in detectable concentrations:
- CBD (0.19%);
- CBG (0.12%);
- CBN (0.12%);
- Delta-8 THC (0.12%).
While there’s no scientific data suggesting that these cannabinoids improve the effectiveness of CBC…
This might be because no studies have researched this topic yet.
Because studies that looked at the synergistic effects of other cannabinoids on CBD and THC show that these other cannabinoids improve their effectiveness…
We have every reason to think the same may hold true for CBC.
And when studies start showing these effects, you’ll be happy with this full-spectrum CBC oil.
All NuLeaf Naturals that we have reviewed have the same third-party lab-test results:
They’re completely clean from:
- Heavy metals;
- Pesticides;
- Microbials, and;
- Residual solvents.
If you want to see an example of these test results from the batches we have reviewed, click here.
Our Test Results with the Product (Practical Effectiveness Rating)
We checked how this CBC oil:
- Improved sleep;
- Relieved exercise-induced inflammation and pain, and;
- Reduced tenseness, anxiety, and irritation on ‘bad’ days.
Sleep
This is how we tested NuLeaf Naturals CBC oil for sleep:
- Take a full dropper of NuLeaf Naturals oils sublingually 60 minutes before sleep;
- Check how fast I fell asleep;
- What time I wake up the next morning;
- If and how many times I woke up between me falling asleep and me getting up in the morning, and;
- Check how well rested I feel the next morning.
The results:
This CBC oil only had a very mild effect on sleep.
It improved sleep slightly as measured by how rested I felt the days after I used it.
But it wasn’t anything super noteworthy and could easily have been a placebo effect.
If you’re looking to improve your sleep and don’t have any pain-related or inflammatory issues, I would check out either the CBD or CBN oil.
Now:
If your pain-related and inflammatory issues are keeping you up at night, this CBC oil may help improve your sleep by reducing those issues.
Inflammation and Pain
This is where CBC oil shines compared to the other cannabinoids.
CBC oil was very effective in reducing the inflammation in my knee after a strenuous workout involving many squats.
It was more effective than either CBD or CBG oil for that.
The best part?
It did so without any sedative or stimulating effects.
Depending on what exactly you’re looking for, this might be good or bad.
But if you’re looking for potent pain-reducing and anti-inflammatory effects, but find other cannabinoids too sedating or stimulating…
This CBC oil is definitely worth trying.
Irritation/Anxiety
As explained, this CBC oil had neither sedating nor stimulating effects.
I also didn’t feel as strongly that it put me in a more relaxed mood.
For this particular purpose, I would recommend CBD, CBG, or CBN oil.
Now:
When you have a pain-related and/or inflammatory condition and this is what’s causing you anxiety or stress…
Then this CBC oil may be the most effective product for you because it seems to be more effective in reducing pain and inflammation than the other cannabinoid oils.
The bottom line:
When you have pain-related or inflammatory issues, this CBC oil may prove to be more useful to you than any other cannabinoid product.
Taste
The same as the other NuLeaf Naturals products:
- Hempy;
- Earthy, and;
- Clean.
Price
CBC products are new, but the price in terms of how much CBC or CBC-rich hemp-extract you get is in line with NuLeaf Naturals CBD products:
- 11,36mg CBC per $1, and;
- 13mg hemp-extract per $1.
Again, the bigger your bottle, the more value you get.
In an 1800mg bottle, you get 25% more CBC and other cannabinoids for one dollar.

NuLeaf Naturals CBN Oil and Capsules Review
Pros and Cons
- One of the only full-spectrum CBN oils
- Made from organic Hemp grown in Colorado
- CBN is more sedative than CBD, could be a better option for sleep and possibly anxiety

- CBN is still relatively under-researched compared to CBD
- May be a bit too sedative for daytime

Cannabinoid-profile
CBN is a degradation ‘product’ from THC.
When THC oxidizes it turns into CBN.
While this may sound bad, it’s not.
CBN is the most sedative of all cannabinoids and best used for nighttime.
CBN is associated with various health benefits (5), including:
- Anxiety-reducing;
- Sleep-improving;
- Anti-inflammatory, and;
- Pain-reducing effects.
After extensively testing NuLeaf Naturals CBN oil we came to the conclusion that it’s indeed the most sedative cannabinoid.
What CBN seems to be better at than the other cannabinoids is its potential to put you in a tense-free, relaxed, and sedated mood.
For me, it had strong physically sedating effects, more so than mental.
Based on our experience this CBN oil may work well for you when:
- You’re looking for the most potent physically sedating product for evenings/nighttime;
- CBD didn’t work for you to relieve pain. CBN is associated with pain-reducing effects as well and might provide relief where CBD doesn’t.
If you find CBD products too sedating at times, this CBN oil is even more sedating in the same doses.
In that case, when you get this oil, use it only in the evenings/nighttime and definitely not when you have a lot to do that day.
NuLeaf Naturals CBN Oil Potency and Effectiveness
Like all other NuLeaf products, this CBN oil contains a wide variety of hemp-derived cannabinoids and probably also terpenes (although we couldn’t find a test).
Cannabinoid-Profile
Besides CBN (6.3%) there are 4 other cannabinoids present in detectable concentrations:
- CBD (0.13%);
- CBC (0.11%);
- CBG (0.11%);
- Delta-8 THC (0.13%).
Just like with the other cannabinoids, we believe that CBN is best taken together with other hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes. Because we believe that this will increase CBN’s effectiveness and reduce any potential side effects.
All NuLeaf Naturals that we have reviewed have the same third-party lab-test results:
They’re completely clean from:
- Heavy metals;
- Pesticides;
- Microbials, and;
- Residual solvents.

Our Test Results with the Product (Practical Effectiveness Rating)
We tested this CBN oil to see how useful it was for:
- Improving sleep;
- Relieving exercise-induced inflammation and pain, and;
- Reducing tenseness and irritation on ‘bad’ days.
Sleep
This is how we tested NuLeaf Naturals CBN oil for sleep:
- Take a full dropper of NuLeaf Naturals oils sublingually 60 minutes before sleep;
- Check how fast I fell asleep;
- What time I wake up the next morning;
- If and how many times I woke up between me falling asleep and me getting up in the morning, and;
- Check how well rested I feel the next morning.
Well, this was the most potent cannabinoid to get me in a sleepy mood.
In fact, it was so good at putting me in a sleepy mood, that I will avoid using this product in the daytime.
For nighttime though, this CBN oil is one of the most potent cannabinoid products I have tried to improve my sleep.
The best part?
I didn’t feel groggy or had brain fog like I sometimes get with high-THC products.
Inflammation and Pain
Compared to the other cannabinoids, CBN was less effective in reducing the inflammation in my knee than CBC or Delta-8 THC.
But it was similarly effective as CBG and CBD.
Still, I wouldn’t use this product right after a workout if that workout is during the day.
As explained, this oil is highly sedative and will slow everything down or even put you to sleep.
After an evening workout, I could see this CBN oil work well though.
For example:
When I do an evening workout, I’m energized that whole evening. That’s exactly why I avoid evening workouts.
However, with this CBN oil, I could see myself taking an evening workout. It’s just that potent of a sedative.
Irritation/Anxiety
This CBN oil puts me in a relaxed mood, too relaxed almost.
Although I like being relaxed, this product almost numbs you.
It’s great if you need a strong sedative effect. But if you’re looking to relieve anxiety during a normal workday, I wouldn’t use this product in the recommended dosage. It makes me too relaxed and even sleepy.
If you go half the recommended dosage, you might find decent effects for anxiety relief.
But I don’t feel 15mg of CBN will be as potent as 30mg of CBD for anxiety relief for example. But 15mg of CBN might be as sedating as 30mg of CBD.
Therefore I’m not even sure if that would be the right choice for anxiety relief during the day.
Now:
If you really need the most potent anxiety-relieving product and don’t mind the sedating effects, this CBN oil may prove to be useful for you.
Taste
The same as the other NuLeaf Naturals products:
- Hempy;
- Earthy, and;
- Clean.
Price
The price expressed in terms of how much CBN or CBN-rich hemp-extract you get per dollar is very comparable to the other products in this review:
- 11,36mg CBN per $1, and;
- 12.5mg hemp-extract per $1.
Again, the bigger your bottle, the more value you get.
In a 6000mg bottle, you get 50% more CBN and other cannabinoids for one dollar.

Cannabinoid-profile
Delta-8 THC is a bit of a controversial compound.
Here’s why:
While this compound isn’t federally illegal, it produces similar psychoactive effects as delta-9 THC, or what we commonly refer to as ‘THC’.
Why does this matter?
Well, while delta-8 THC isn’t explicitly mentioned as an illegal compound, it might not be in the spirit of the law to have this compound federally legal.
Some states in the U.S. already started banning products containing delta-8-THC.
That being said…
While this compound isn’t technically illegal, you can still buy delta-8 THC-containing products. Click here to find our highest-rated delta-8 brands.
Whether you should is a different story.
Our experience with this compound has been mixed.
Early studies done in the 1970s found that delta-8 THC has similar effects to delta-9 THC (6).
But there are very few studies that looked at the effects of delta-8 THC specifically.
delta-9 THC is associated with various health benefits, including:
- Painkilling and anti-inflammatory effects;
- Anti-oxidant and neuroprotective effects, and;
- Nausea-reducing effects.
After extensively testing NuLeaf Naturals Delta-8 THC oil we came to the conclusion that this product is indeed psychoactive.
When you get this product, we highly recommend taking it very easy and starting with very low doses.
Based on our experience this Delta-8 THC oil may work well for you when:
- CBD or CBN products don’t work well for your sleep;
- You need a very potent pain-reducing and anti-inflammatory product.
I don’t recommend this product for anxiety relief. This oil produces psychoactive effects. A side effect of these psychoactive effects may be anxiety. If you’re not careful with the dose, you might increase your anxiety.
NuLeaf Naturals Delta-8 THC Oil Potency and Effectiveness
This is a full-spectrum product.
Cannabinoid-Profile
Besides Delta-8 THC (2.19%) there are 5 other cannabinoids present in detectable concentrations:
- CBD (0.13%);
- CBC (0.11%);
- CBG (0.13%);
- CBN (0.12%);
- Delta-9 THC (0.28%).
As you can see, this is a THC-dominant product. This means it will produce THC-like effects.
Terpene-Profile
There’s currently no terpene-profile available for this product.
However:
Since this product is produced from the same plants and in a similar way as NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil, we can assume it has a similar terpene-profile.

Our Test Results with the Product (Practical Effectiveness Rating)
Full disclosure:
One time, To test this product I also took double the recommended dose (30mg instead of 15mg).
Although this double dose put me to sleep very effectively…
I really don’t recommend taking this much because the psychoactive effects were too intense.
Now that we have looked at the theoretical effectiveness of this product, we have to see if its great cannabinoid- and terpene-profile results in potent effects when taking it for:
- Improving sleep;
- Relieving exercise-induced inflammation and pain, and;
- Reducing tenseness and irritation on ‘bad’ days.
Sleep
This is how we tested NuLeaf Naturals Delta-8 THC oil for sleep:
- Take a full dropper of NuLeaf Naturals oil sublingually 60 minutes before sleep;
- Check how fast I fell asleep;
- What time I wake up the next morning;
- If and how many times I woke up between me falling asleep and me getting up in the morning, and;
- Check how well rested I feel the next morning.
This cannabinoid was even more potent than CBN oil for getting me to sleep.
Especially when I took double the recommended dose, I basically went into a sleep coma and woke up 11 hours later.
Now, this might sound positive, but there were a few downsides:
- The next day, I woke up groggy and with some brain fog;
- Also, I had some concentration problems the next day.
When I took the regular dose (15mg), these side effects were significantly less. But the effectiveness of improving my sleep was almost as good.
Lesson:
With this product make sure you never take more than the recommended dose of 15mg delta-8 THC.
Inflammation and Pain
This delta-8 THC oil was very effective in reducing the inflammation in my knee with 15mg.
My subjective rating is that it’s as effective as CBC oil and more effective than CBD, CBG, or CBN for pain reduction and anti-inflammatory effects.
The downside again is that it’s psychoactive.
With the regular dose of 15mg, it’s not ‘out of this world psychoactive’. However, you’ll definitely notice the effects.
I don’t recommend taking the recommended dose for pain during a normal working day or even when you’re driving a car.
In fact, personally, I would avoid taking this product unless I really don’t have anything else to do that day. The psychoactive effects can be just that intense.
Irritation/Anxiety
I don’t recommend taking this product as a stand-alone product if you want to reduce anxiety.
THC’s is known to cause or exacerbate anxiety in some people.
And while I didn’t experience any anxiety while taking this product, I did experience psychoactive effects. I can see how someone that’s sensitive to THC anxiety-causing effects or anyone that already has some form of anxiety can experience even worse anxiety when taking this product.
Now:
When I combined this delta-8 THC oil with the CBD oil, the psychoactive effects were reduced a bit, but still not gone.
Therefore I don’t really recommend taking this product for anxiety relief.
Of course, your body may react differently, and experimenting a few times with a low dose can’t hurt.
Taste
The same as the other NuLeaf Naturals products:
- Hempy;
- Earthy, and;
- Clean.
Price
The price expressed in terms of how much Delta-8 THC or Delta-8-THC-rich hemp-extract you get per dollar is very comparable to the other products in this review:
- 11,97mg Delta-8 THC per $1, and;
- 16mg hemp-extract per $1.
This is based on the 450mg, 15ml bottle.
Of course, like with the other products:
The bigger your bottle, the more cannabinoids you get per dollar.

Conclusion
At Herbonaut we’re the biggest fans of true full-spectrum CBD oils.
Most CBD oils today that get marketed as full-spectrum, in reality, are ‘broad spectrum’ CBD oils.
Broad-spectrum CBD oils don’t contain the full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes found in Hemp plant and/or don’t contain them in high amounts.
Therefore it’s highly important to validate the claims done by CBD companies.
Looking at the:
- Certificates of analysis done by an independent 3th-party laboratory, and;
- Effects that NuLeaf Naturals produces with regards to sleep, inflammation, and bad mood,
I feel confident to say that NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil is a true full-spectrum CBD oil.
If you’re looking for a simple, 100% natural, and hemp-based CBD oil that comes with a great variety of hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes…
This tincture is one of your best choices.
But also if you want to experiment with other cannabinoids like:
- CBG (slightly stimulating and anxiety-reducing);
- CBC (great for pain and inflammation);
- CBN (highly sedative), or;
- Delta-8 THC (highly sedative and great for pain, but can produce intense psychoactive effects)…
NuLeaf Naturals provides products rich in these cannabinoids as well.
